1978 Fender Musicmaster Bass Olympic White
1978 Fender Musicmaster Bass in Olympic White, well more of a custardy yellow finish now having probably seen the inside of many a smoke filled pub in its lifetime. This one has had the all too familiar gaffe tape strap lock system used, which I kinda dig. The finish has a some dings and crazing in the lacquer, it’s a damn fine looking bass. One for the cool cats among us!
One pot has been replaced and the other dates to 77. Neck pocket and butt are stamped ( please see pics ) Original scratch plate with Fender sticker on the rear. Pick up also stamped' ‘78.
Weight 4.19KG
Softcase included.
The shorter 30-inch scale length not only makes it more comfortable to play for extended periods but also contributes to its distinctive sound profile. This scale length is favoured by many bassists for its ease of playability and unique tonal characteristics, offering a punchy, focused sound that cuts through any musical mix with clarity and precision.
Equipped with a single pickup configuration, the Musicmaster Bass delivers a straightforward yet versatile range of tones. The single pickup design is known for its simplicity and purity, capturing the essence of classic bass tones from the late '70s era. This setup allows players to dial in a variety of sounds from deep, resonant lows to clear, articulate highs, making it suitable for a wide range of musical genres. The most notable users are Tine Weymouth Talking Heads, Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones and Adam Yauch of The Beastie Boys.
